The Beaumont RCSI Cancer Conference 2026: From Prevention to Personalised Care

Call for abstracts

Invitations are open for poster abstracts under the theme, ‘From Prevention To Personalised Care’, for the Beaumont RCSI Cancer Centre Research Award.

Submission guidelines:

  • 200 words max. excluding title and affiliations
  • Abstracts should include introduction, methodology and findings
  • Abstracts should not include tables or graphs
  • Abstract submission is by email to cancerdirectorate@beaumont.ie.

A number of abstracts will be selected for poster presentation at the Beaumont RCSI Cancer Centre Conference on Thursday, 21 May 2026. One poster will be selected by a panel of judges to receive the Cancer Centre Award.

Final date for abstract submissions: Friday, 24 April 2026 at 4pm.

  • Cancer Conference 2025: Modernising the Landscape of Cancer Care

    Cancer experts will gather today for the 2025 Beaumont RCSI Cancer Centre Conference at the RCSI Education and Research Centre in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin. This year’s theme, ‘Transforming Cancer Care: Innovation, Integration, and Equity’ will examine themes of healthcare outcomes, and equity and access in cancer diagnostics and cancer research.

    BRCC Cancer Conference Programme 2025

    Jointly hosted by RCSI and Beaumont Hospital, this annual conference highlights leading-edge approaches to cancer diagnosis and treatment, while reinforcing the critical importance of equitable access to care across all populations.

    Speaking about the event, Professor Patrick Morris, Medical Director of the Opens in new windowBeaumont RCSI Cancer Centre, said: “Examining the global backgrounds and varied needs of cancer patients is crucial in tailoring effective cancer treatment strategies. This conference will provide an opportunity to share insights and exchange ideas that will advance worldwide cancer care, and ensure it is accessible and equitable for all.”

    The opening keynote address will be presented by Professor Linda Sharpe, Professor of Cancer Epidemiology at the University of Newcastle. Leader of the research programme at the National Cancer Registry Ireland for ten years she was also Senior Lecturer in Epidemiology at the University of Aberdeen.

    The other keynote speaker presenting at the event is Professor Arsela Prelaj, who is a Consultant Oncologist in Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori di Milano, specialising in thoracic malignancies. She is head of the hospital’s Artificial Intelligence for Oncology Lab and President of the European Interdisciplinary Society of AI for Cancer Research of AI in Cancer Research.

    The event’s other distinguished speakers include Professor Gerry Hanna, Consultant Radiation Oncologist, Marie Curie Chair of Clinical Oncology, Trinity St James’ and St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network; Dr Helen Greally, National Clinical Lead in Psycho-Oncology, Director of Psychology and Psychosocial supports at Cancer Care West; Opens in new windowDr Sudipto Das, Deputy Dean, Senior Lecturer, School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences, RCSI; Mr William Robb; Consultant Upper GI Surgeon, Robotic Surgery, Beaumont RCSI; and Professor Brendan Doyle, Consultant Histopathologist, Digital Pathology, Beaumont RCSI.

    The Beaumont RCSI Cancer Conference continues to serve as a collaborative platform for academic and clinical leaders to influence national and international policy and practice.

    The 2025 programme built on the momentum of previous years by expanding its focus to encompass digital innovation, global health equity, and the role of interdisciplinary collaboration in transforming outcomes.

  • Cancer Conference 2024: Cancer Care for All: Understanding Populations to Improve Outcomes

    Cancer experts will convene today for the 2024 Beaumont RCSI Cancer Centre Conference at the RCSI Education and Research Centre in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin. This year’s theme, ‘Cancer Care for All: Understanding Populations to Improve Outcomes’, aims to address vital topics such as healthcare outcomes, and equity and access in cancer diagnostics and research.

    The annual conference brings together healthcare professionals, academics and key stakeholders to discuss the latest advancements in cancer care. This year’s focus is particularly on understanding the diverse needs of patient populations to enhance the effectiveness of cancer treatment across the board.

    Professor Leonie Young, Scientific Director of the Opens in new windowBeaumont RCSI Cancer Centre, commented on this year’s theme: “Understanding the diverse backgrounds and specific needs of our patients is crucial in tailoring effective cancer treatments. This conference serves as an important forum to share insights and exchange ideas that will not only advance cancer care, but also ensure it is accessible and equitable for all.”

    Attendees will hear from a distinguished lineup of speakers including Professor Willie Hamilton, Professor of Primary Care Diagnostics at the University of Exeter and Cancer Research UK; Professor Edward Gregg, Head of the School of Population Health at RCSIProfessor Jarushka Naidoo, Professor of Medical Oncology at RCSI and Consultant Medical Oncologist at Beaumont RCSI Cancer Centre; and Professor Mark Lawler, Professor of Digital Health at Queen’s University Belfast. Siobhan Gaynor, a member of the Patient Consultative Committee at Cancer Trials Ireland, will also share invaluable insights from the patient’s perspective.

    Sara Long, the newly appointed regional executive officer for the Health Service Executive (HSE) Dublin North East will deliver the opening address, highlighting the ongoing commitment of the HSE to supporting cancer research and treatment initiatives.

  • Cancer Conference 2022: The Vision for Comprehensive Cancer Care in Ireland
    2022 Cancer Conference and Accreditation Event

    As Ireland’s newly accredited European Cancer Centre, the Beaumont RCSI Cancer Centre, will hold its first conference in Dublin on Thursday, 22 September 2022.

    The conference is the first of its kind to be held by the Centre, which is an innovative collaboration between Beaumont Hospital, RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences and St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network.

    The Beaumont RCSI Cancer Centre has recently been accredited by the OECI, Europe’s accreditation body for standards in cancer research, education and clinical care.

    The inaugural cancer conference will bring together healthcare professionals, academics and key stakeholders to celebrate the accreditation and present the Cancer Centre’s vision for comprehensive cancer care in Ireland.

    International key note speakers include Professor Alastair Thompson, Breast Cancer Surgeon and Professor and Chief, Section of Breast Surgery, Baylor College of Medicine and Dr Jean-Benoît Burrion, Chair of the OECI Accreditation and Designation Programme.

    The Beaumont RCSI Cancer Centre is a partnership between Ireland’s leading healthcare professionals, academics, biologists, epidemiologists and statisticians across the disciplines of medicine, radiation, surgery and palliative care. The Centre specialises in the treatment of a wide range of cancers including breast, colorectal, lung, endocrine, head & neck, neuro oncology, urology, skin, haematology and upper gastro intestinal.

    Commenting on the significance of the event, Professor Patrick Morris, Medical Director of the Beaumont RCSI Cancer Centre said: “The establishment of the Beaumont RCSI Cancer Centre formalises the alliance and commitment to cancer care that has long existed between the three partners involved, combining our expertise to create a centre of excellence with the scale and breadth to drive improvements nationally and through our international networks.”
