Wellness Booklet

Welcome to the wellness booklet. You can download here

We work as part of the cancer services in Beaumont Hospital, and we noticed that lots of booklets and information were given out to people before, during and after treatment. But we wanted to know whether people were getting the information they really wanted. And so we asked…and this booklet is a reflection of the information people said they would find useful. This is for you, whether you have completed your treatment, are on maintenance treatment, or are living with cancer. We are looking at supporting your wellbeing despite ill health. While this book might be aimed at cancer patients, a lot of the information is useful for friends and family too.

Finishing treatment has been described as “like falling off a cliff”; one minute you are surrounded by supports, medical team, friends and family, and the next the medical team are saying “see you in X months at your check up. ” It can be a really difficult time, and in fact, some people say it is the most challenging time of their treatment.

How to use this booklet

We hope that this booklet can put some structure on how to build your wellbeing plan. You might find it useful to take one section at a time, and add some of these things to your everyday schedule. Research tells us that having a specific day, and time of the day to do things makes it more likely you will achieve your goal.
